Lots of familiar faces running for L.A. City Council

December 25, 2008 |  8:54 am

The change in Los Angeles' term limits law appears to be having a big effect on the upcoming Council races, according to the Daily News' Rick Orlov:

Eight seats on the Los Angeles City Council are up for election on March 4 but -- after voters loosened the city's term-limits law two years ago -- a lot of familiar faces are expected to return. Seven incumbents, six of whom would have been termed out under the old rules, are seeking re-election to the best-paid City Council in the nation, each earning more than $196,000 a year. Most candidates have sounded similar themes of improving traffic flow, public safety and development planning. The only open seat is in the 5th District, which includes parts of the southeastern San Fernando Valley, where Councilman Jack Weiss has decided to run for city attorney.

Return of the Living Dead was not as horrifying an experience as reading this. May God help us with the lack of leadership in this doomed city.

May God help us!
