Fog blamed in collision near Willowbrook

December 31, 2008 |  8:20 am

Fog may have contributed to a two-car collision near Willowbrook that left three people hospitalized, including one woman who was unconscious, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. near the Metro Blue Line rail tracks at Wilmington and Willowbrook avenues. A 25-year-old female driver was listed in critical condition and was taken unconscious by paramedics to a hospital, said d'Lisa Davies, a spokeswoman for the fire department.

The woman's passenger, a 20-year-old man, was trapped in the car for several minutes and also was taken to a hospital, Davies said. The passenger of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized for observation, she said.

Davies said the Metro Blue Line service would be delayed until the vehicles were removed from the tracks. She said thick fog might have contributed to the accident.
