Tough economy means a Pasadena post office is moving
Tough times -- and more people using e-mail instead of regular mail -- are prompting the U.S. Postal Service to cut back. And that means moving out of some larger post offices for smaller ones. The Star-News reports on one such case in Pasadena:
A troubled economy has meant billions less in business mailings and is prompting a local post office to move to a smaller facility.
"The postal service volume traditionally follows the economy," said Richard Maher, spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service in Southern California. "We're trying to cut the costs wherever we can and still serve our customers the best we can."
The East Pasadena post office, 2609 E. Colorado Blvd., in January will relocate to 3016 E. Colorado Blvd., a smaller facility a few blocks east, officials said.
Mail delivery operations, which used to be housed in the current facility, moved to another location earlier this year. That left vacant space, Maher said.

I'm in zip 91107 and that's my post office. I can't say I'm sorry to see it go. There is NO DECENT PARKING. You can either try to find a spot along Colorado, which is nearly impossible after 10:00 a.m., or you can take your chances parking illegally at the Denny's across the street. I have avoided that office for the 15 years I've lived here because of the lack of parking.

I'm with you BBManny. Parking is so bad that I just avoid that Post Office and go to the one at San Marino on Huntington. Way much easier access.
