Traffic jammed on 101 Freeway as police investigate shooting of man driving a Bentley

December 12, 2008 |  6:50 am

Traffic is backed up for miles on the southbound 101 Freeway this morning as police investigate the shooting of a man driving a Bentley, who was shot several times in a car-to-car shooting.

Police found the man slumped over his steering wheel with gunshot wounds and multiple bullet holes to his silver Bentley after the California Highway Patrol received calls at 3:30 a.m. of an erratic driver who had struck the median on the freeway, said Officer Ana Aguirre, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 101 southbound is closed at Grand to the 110 Freeway and the eastbound Interstate 10 connector, Aguirre said.

Police and the CHP are investigating. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
