The mayor visits a men's room

November 10, 2008 |  2:54 pm

The quest to save water during these drought times is sending our mayor to an unexpected place today -- a men's room in Century City. City News Service provides details:

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will tour a men's restroom in a Century City high-rise today to promote city-supported water conservation methods adopted by the business community, including waterless urinals. Villaraigosa and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power General Manager David Nahai will hold a news conference to discuss the "cost-effective and sustainable water conservation efforts being implemented in the city's commercial sector," said an LADWP statement. The mayor will also tour an 11th-floor restroom featuring waterless urinals, it said.

The Times' Bob Pool wrote about the great debate over waterless urinals.

This is the hard-hitting, investigative journalism for which the LA Times will never achieve international status.

Glad our mayor is using a public toilet. Power to the people.
