Next Prop. 8 protest planned for Silver Lake

prop 8 protest

Robin Tyler and Diane Olson, a lesbian couple whose lawsuit led to the California Supreme Court's landmark decision allowing gay marriage, will speak out at the latest Prop. 8 protest, slated for tonight on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake.

Meanwhile, City News Service reports that 15 people were arrested at last night's Long Beach march.

The voting results show that Propostion 8 was soundly rejected by black voters.

If that be the case, then when will the protesters be marching through South Central Los Angeles??

Does it strike anyone else as odd that a straight man who was videotaped on Wednesday punching a protester in the face was not arrested, while 2 protesters whom photographed the protester's bloodied face and then his attacker were arrested for allegedly "inciting a riot". What do you call driving through a No on 8 rally displaying a sign saying "Yes on 8"? Can anyone explain why wasn't the other guy arrested for assault?

we should now protest at a black church. African Americans, in addition to the Mormons, overwhelmingly voted in favor of Prop. 8.

We should do it the way they protested for equal rights 40+ years ago. That will show them and the media how hypocritical they are.

Carson: The comment about protesting at a black church was really ignorant and just plain stupid. even if african americans voted in favor of prop 8, going to ONE random Black church means won't be very effective. for all you know, that church may have many prop 8 opponents. i'm getting really sick and tired of people implying that Black people of all people should vote no on 8. Black people are just that: people. we aren't some monolithic entity who agree on everything and support every cause! we are not a religion where we all believe the same thing. i for one am against prop 8, but i have family who was raised in a different time and don't agree with me. they are no different from the white, asian, and latino population who voted yes on 8. they feel how they feel! PROP 8 SHOULD BE OVERTURNED! GOING AND PROTESTING AT DIFFERENT BLACK INSTITUTIONS BECAUSE THE PEOPLE HAPPEN TO BE BLACK, AND BLACKS WERE PREDOMINANT IN VOTING YES ON 8 DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO "SHOW US."

Obviously not Richard seeing how white people who are gay don't want to be around 'those people' even if those people are also gay they just are white which is apparently the ONLY gay people white gays care about!!

We want Equality, for those of you who don't know what Equality is it means Equal... we don't want the church involved we don't want to involve your religion. we just want equal rights just like everyone else... Blacks couldn't marry at a time... jews and gays in the holocaust.... and yet we are still domestic screw you!! I am not a second class citizen i was born in America with straight parents and I am Gay and Deserve to be happy and not have people in my face!

I am not telling you who to marry you shouldn't be telling me!!

African American people after 40 years of struggling for your rights, how hypocritical for you to deny our rights to be happy. America still has a whole in it's heart and it needs to be mended before any change can happen!
