Hundreds march in Hollywood to protest Prop. 8

November 5, 2008 | 10:54 pm

Hundreds of marchers took part in a largely peaceful march through West Hollywood and Hollywood tonight to protest the passage of Prop. 8. LAPD Officer Jason Lee said a crowd of 500 flooded streets and blocked traffic. A few arrests were made, and the LAPD called a tactical alert. But Lee said the march was fairly orderly.

I'm glad that for once, moral standards prevailed. A society must have moral standards, and it must enforce them even if hurts people's feelings.

But I respect the right of the marchers to demonstrate against Prop 8. Even though I am grateful it passed.

I live in West Hollywood and was ruffed up by this mob on the way home from work tonight. My car was engulfed, I was shoved, my car hit and the mob rocked my car trying to tip it. I support equal rights for everyone, voted no on prop 8, BUT this kind of behavior does not foster understanding.

We diserve victory and equal rights! GOOD FOR THEM! LET"S STAND UP FOR SOMETHING RIGHT!!! NO ON HATE 8

Big changes like this always take time, effort and unity. We will make it happen. Everybody deserves love! GO NO ON 8!

It was WELL over 500 people. Try starting around 10,000. According to an article (as opposed to blog) on latimes.com, 12,500 people marched in Silverlake/Los Angeles this evening. I was there as were thousands of others to stand up for equality.

The implication of proposition 8 passing means that now one group of people in California have more rights than another. That is not what our country was founded on. We are a nation of equality. Everyone deserves their civil rights.

You lost...society spoke...get over it and stay the helll out of the street!
