Even Orange County doesn't like GOP leadership

November 20, 2008 |  8:05 am

We've heard a lot about the Republican "regrouping" after the defeat of John McCain. It's going to be painful for the party to find its way, and here's some evidence. According to the O.C. Register, top Orange County political figures say it's time for change in the GOP leadership on Capitol Hill:

The head of Orange County's largest Republican donor group said Wednesday's reelection of Minority Leader John Boehner House Republicans doesn't inspire much confidence that his party is going to get the facelift it needs. "I think that based on what happened over the last two elections that they needed top down change,'' said Rich Wagner, president of the Lincoln Club. The GOP held its leadership elections Wednesday. And while Boehner kept his post, the next two most powerful jobs -– Minority Whip and Conference Chairman -– went to new faces that represent the conservative wing of the party many O.C. Republicans identify with.
