Two Californians make Esquire's 10-worst list in Congress
In its own go-for-the-jugular style, Esquire Magazine is out with its list of the top 10 worst members of Congress, and California is disproportionately represented with two members.
Rep. Joe Baca, a Democrat from Rialto, draws the ire of the mag for an alleged incident from last year:
As chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Baca steered CHC funds to the campaigns of his two sons. When Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez called him on it, he did the mature thing and called her a 'whore.' Nice. So Baca's corrupt and venal.
The other Californian on the (hit) list is Rep. Pete Stark, a Democrat from Fremont:
Stark gives bumbling, dyspeptic old fools who say stupid things a bad name. Choice recent example: accusing Republicans of sending troops to Iraq "to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement." Oh, and Stark's been elevating the discourse in the House just like that for 36 years.
The Golden State's not all bad, the magazine found. Esquire singles out Beverly Hills Democrat, Henry A. Waxman, as one of the 10 best members of Congress:
Someone must count the costs of this presidency, and Waxman has for years been the most consistent voice in Congress not just calling for Bush-administration malfeasance and constitutional vandalism to be investigated but -- with his army of investigators -- actually doing something about it. In that, he has been virtually alone.
The Ten Best list is here. And you can nominate your own at Daily Kos.
