Fire in Camp Pendleton prompts evacuations
A wildfire burning in Camp Pendleton has grown to 100 acres and is now threatening homes on the base and in nearby neighborhoods, the AP is reporting. From the story:
Marine spokesman 2nd Lt. Riley Whaling says an unknown number of families were being evacuated Monday by military police from a housing area threatened by a fire that started around 3:30 p.m.
A spokesman for the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection says several neighborhoods near the base have been evacuated. Capt. Nick Schuler says those families have been evacuated to El Camino High School in Oceanside.
Firefighters are also battling a second fire, burning near a training area on the base but not near any homes.

I live in oceanside, right behind Camp Pendalton. Pretty much the only separation between my mobile home and the fire, now that it's already gone up and over the hills, is another residential neighborhood. I could see flames and smoke coming up from the neighborhood right from my backyard. I swear, it can't be more than a mile away. Oh and did I mention that the wind is blowing right in my direction?! I'm getting pretty nervous!

To Jacob - the first one to comment here.... Your concern should be for the safety of the people that have been evacuated from their homes. I hope your school is open...... you need to learn to spell.
