Happening tonight: Macho movies

October 11, 2008 |  4:19 pm
Commando_3 Good afternoon, readers.

Tonight at the New Beverly Cinema, the very funny comedian Patton Oswalt who is guest-curating their current program, offers a double feature saluting two heavyweights of macho 80's film, "Nighthawks" and "Commando." In "Nighthawks," Sylvester Stallone plays an NYPD detective tracking international terrorist Rutger Hauer (also very macho) across Europe.

In the better known "Commando," Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance as Matrix, a retired commando who must save his daughter (Alyssa Milano) from an evil Latin American warlord, is as insanely muscle-bound, fist-fighting and filled with flat one-liners as any Arnold fan could desire. Tickets are $7.
