Citizens for Better Government? With friends like these ...
The state’s top ethics watchdog has found probable cause that a campaign committee violated the Political Reform Act in trying to influence an election in South El Monte.
The finding by Roman Porter, executive director of the state Fair Political Practices Commission, triggers a possible administrative hearing in which the committee can contest the allegations.
Porter said there is probable cause to believe that the committee failed to disclose late contributions of about $7,000 to current Mayor Blanca M. Figueroa, Mayor Pro Tem Hector Delgado and City Councilman Luis Aguinaga in the 2003 election and did not properly identify the sender of four mass mailings.
The name of the group that allegedly violated the campaign finance laws: Citizens for Better Government.

Well, it is nice to see that SOME of the 2003 election problems for South El Monte have been discovered, and when someone gets around to checking the 2 election after that, they will find something on the order of 10 TIMES the amount of problems. I would give it about 4 more years at the most, when the some newspaper discovers vast somes of monies MISSING from the city, and a whole host of RELATED city employees getting paid, but nowhere to be found - I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED (thats all I can say) - HINT - just start asking for records under the FOI acts folks.
