New Echo Park blog from Jesus Sanchez
I hear that my former (and oh-so-missed) L.A. Times colleague, Jesus Sanchez, had been hoping for a "soft open" for The Eastsider L.A., his new blog about (d'oh) L.A.'s east side. You know, just a bit of time to play with the design, work up an archive, work out the kinks. It's been four days -- long enough?
Ummm, yes.
Already Jesus has posts about the geology of Highland Park, the missing bees of Mt. Washington, covert tree butchery in Echo Park, and a discussion of where that elusive east side/west side divide in the LA landscape may actually be.
Also pix (including one of an automotive Louis Vuitton knock-off), a blog roll, and a comments section. It's all in the same wry and gentle style that made his work here at L.A. Now such fun to read. So here's a comment from me: Welcome back to the blogosphere, Jesus!

Funny though, Echo Park is NOT the Eastside and there's a already a local blog with an almost identical name. What's up with that?

Chuy,
Echo Park, Silver Lake, all that stuff isn't the Eastside. You know it, you went to ELAC. Change the name.
