Happening tonight: A contemporary curiosity shop

September 6, 2008 |  2:37 pm

A fine afternoon to all, readers.

Curious Wanted to alert you to an intriguing little thingie happening tonight at 7 at Meltdown Comics. In "The Curious Unseen," 13 artists have created artworks inspired by "curiosity cabinets" or "Wunderkammern" -- the 17th century display rooms (the first museums, sort of) crammed with drawers, shelves and glass cases stocked with exotic rarities of man and nature. Tiny animal skeletons, exotic bugs on pins, vials of holy relics, your name on a grain of rice ... that sort of thing. If you're curious, check out the opening reception, which runs until 10.
