Ed Asner takes a swipe at (a) Jerry Lewis

A political feud has erupted between Ed Asner and Jerry Lewis. No, not that Jerry Lewis. This one's the Republican congressman from Redlands, who's running for reelection against Democratic challenger Tim Prince of San Bernardino. This Lewis has attracted the ire of Asner, an actor best known for playing acerbic newsman Lou Grant on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Asner announced Tuesday that he's endorsing Prince in the 41st Congressional District.

"If he could amuse us as well as his namesake ... could, I'd consider keeping him in office," Asner said. "But Jerry Lewis doesn't amuse. He deceives and has been deceiving for 30 years. Keeping him in office perpetuates the corruption of Washington."

Lewis spokesman Jim Specht countered that Lewis has not been implicated in corruption and is "extremely well respected" in the district.

"Ed Asner is widely known as extremely antiwar and very liberal," Specht said.

Who will Inland Empire voters listen to when they head to the polls?

"Certainly not Hollywood," Specht said.

Anyone who would ever listen to Ed Asner has to be as flaming as he is! He and Babs Streisand want a socialist communist world, as long as they can keep THEIR wealth.

Hmmm. A respected, intelligent actor discussing why he doesn't think the politics of corruption should continue in the Inland Empire.

And since when is being against a war begun and waged on a stack of lies a bad thing?

I guess Mr. Asner's First Amendment rights end at the county line.

Jerry Lewis is one of the most corrupt members of Congress. He has hobnobbed extensively with the likes of disgraced lobbyist Brent Wilkes and disgraced exCongressmen Bill Lowery and exCongressman Cunningham.

Congressman Lewis keeps his earmarks a secret, due to his deep corruption and his entrenched whoring of his office out to lobbyists for the military and security industries. While rape and gang violence continue to perpetuate... Congressman Lewis is out there chasing medical marijuana smokers and Howard Stern.

While the economy collapses and the entire American financial sector completely burns out in corrupt destruction.... Congressman Lewis has been too busy awarding contracts out to military and security lobbies. He's a man who loves war. War on Drugs, War on "terror", War on "indecency". He loves war. He has voted to squander trillions of taxpayer money, making his buddies and donors rich.

He is more destructive than any common street thug, due to the committee power he wields.

The people of the Inland Empire as a voting electorate, have never been very intelligent. They prefer pretty lies over ugly truths. And they vote for men like Lewis due to their own family traditions, and not due to anything resembling research, reality, facts, science, and logic.
