Murder? Yes. Mayhem? Yes. Touchy-feely public displays? Oh yes

2:55 PM | August 8, 2008

Taste_the_rainbow We pass along a lot of rotten news during a day's work here at LA Now, so when a group of people who call themselves "metaphysical activists" get ready for their first-ever "Vibe Demonstration," we feel honor-bound to share that as well.

They're going to gather -- sorry, "peacefully convene" -- at the corner of LaBrea and Santa Monica boulevards today at 6 p.m. and, carrying posters, will aim positive thoughts right at you and everyone else who lives in Gotham our fair city. From their press release:

"The group hopes to create and exhibit a positive vibration that will be felt throughout the city. The demonstration will serve as both an act of metaphysical activism and a street art installation."

"We want to make it known that you can change your life for the better regardless of your circumstances.  You just have to be armed with the knowledge that if you're willing to work, it's impossible not to see dramatic and satisfactory life changes."

Fingers crossed. Really.

Metaphysical Activists Hit the Streets of Los Angeles for the City's First 'Vibe Demonstration'

preAMP+, a local communications group mobilizes more than 100 volunteers to stand united for 'Conscious Freedom'

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 5, 2008) –- Members of preAMP+ and more than 100 volunteers will peacefully convene at the corner of LaBrea Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. on Friday, August 8, 2008, at 6 p.m. Armed with art poster signs bearing positive messages, the group hopes to create and exhibit a positive vibration that will be felt throughout the city. The demonstration will serve as both an act of metaphysical activism and a street art installation.

"At preAMP+ we choose to produce work that focuses on restoring human wholeness," said Sonny Coates, founder. "We want to make it known that you can change your life for the better regardless of your circumstances.  You just have to be armed with the knowledge that if you're willing to work, it's impossible not to see dramatic and satisfactory life changes."

The primary goals of the 'Vibe Demonstration' are to broadcast a message of spiritual and mental awareness, and emphasize individuals' global responsibility as vibratory beings in the creation of a better world by consciously choosing to entertain positive thoughts. After the event, volunteers will post the signs utilized during the demonstration throughout the Los Angeles area to further spread their message.

"By the wind that's blowing, it's evident that mankind is ready to expand even deeper into a worldview that is willing to accept more of itself, and understand the inner-workings of his spiritual instrument and all the wonderful creative possibilities that lie within," said Coates.

preAMP+ was founded on the shared ideal of service through effecting the local community and larger global community by creating events, and media that serve to challenge the way citizens think and participate in society, socially and individually.  The organization has produced several short films and music works in preparation for larger releases in 2009.  The 'Vibe Demonstration' is the group's first public service event.

I was just forced to take my first furlough day last week because the City claims it has no money. Now...it's okay for the City to foot the bill for a public memorial for Michael Jackson?
