Good morning -- here's what's happening 8.28.08 *UPDATED

Eagle_rock_race_ends_in_disaster It was a grisly scene late last night in Eagle Rock, where a suspected street race ended in tragedy when one of three cars went out of control and slammed into a tree. A 23-year-old woman in late-term pregnancy was killed, as were a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man. Two men, ejected from the car, were in critical condition with multiple severed limbs. One driver is in custody and another, who fled the scene, is being sought.

The anti-gay marriage proposition on the Nov. 4 ballot is trailing in the polls.

George Skelton says California gerrymandered its way right into the budget crisis.
