Madame Tussauds Hollywood: A whole new hall of wax

July 10, 2008 |  3:35 pm

Madame Tussauds, the chain of wax museums that made news earlier this week when a patron in Germany ripped off Adolf Hitler's head, is coming to Hollywood. Expected opening -- sometime next spring.

Today, the museum took delivery of its first two wax figures: Beyonce Knowles (yeah, I don't see the resemblance either) and one other. But who? Answer after the jump.

Answer: Actor Jamie Foxx

why did they make beyonce white?

I thought "Beyonce" was Shakira or JLo. It doesn't look a thing like her!

Beyonce has never been that thin.

IS VILLARAIGOSA A WAX FIGURE OR A LIVE DUMMY??

Hmmm... Hollywood already has a thriving wax museum that's been there for years. The desition to allow Tusauds to come will harm the existing one. It is certainly not a responsible move on the part of city government to allow this.

Hollywood wax museum has been there for sooo long, and have stood up for Hollywood all of these years, regardles of good or ban times. The musem is clean, up to date and looking great, why another? Why give competition to a Hollywood icon, and one that has in fact helped SAVE the street, so that now a foreign company, uses the fact that Hollywood WAS saved to harm those who saved it.

Sad. Also, the figure f the mayor and of Garcetti, the oppportunism is soooo obvious. Why not a wax figure of Jhonny Grant, who as a tribute to Hollywood's Honorary mayor that worked so hard all of these years with the chamber of commerce, with the Walk of Fame, with the Hollywood Parade. Why not Max Factor.

This sems like an obvious case of personal political gain, not only a lankmark an heroic Hollywood institution is threatened, but to have the mayor, AGAIN using the spotlight and Garcetti, this is TOO MUCH!

The current Hollywood wax museum is a joke. The only reason anyone goes there is because it's on a block with zillion tourists who don't know any better until they've wasted their money to get inside. Tussaud's will be a zillion times better. I'm all for preserving the past when it's worth preserving, but this new wax museum will be a HUGE improvement.

I understand the concerns posted by Francesco and most likely he has close ties to the Hollywood Wax Museum. However, The Hollywood Wax Museum didn't save Hollywood, nor did it ever help Hollywood. The fact is Hollywood helped the wax museum (not the other way around) and for most tourists whomever went and bought a ticket, walked out with some of the most disapointing memories of Hollywood.

I once contacted the Hollywood Wax Museum's owners and asked, "Why don't you ever show pictures of your figures on your web site or much in your brochures. (check out the web site, you'll see)They simply replied "It is our policy not to show our figures in promotional pieces" Huh?

The likenesses are hit and miss and mostly miss. I got the feeling that they don't show the figures on promo because they are so bad. The fact is Hollywood Wax Museum has given the impression that all they care about is money, ticket sales and paying tribute to Hollywood didn't seem to be priority, thus the result is poorly crafted sets and often times horrible likenesses.

The Hollywood Wax Museum is nothing more than a sideshow on Hollywood Boulevard and it leaves ticket buyers feeling the same way they feel when they get taken at the carnival.

The illusion of Hollywood is too classy to have another carnival attraction on the boulevard, it's seedy enough, it doesn't need any more.

Movieland Wax Museum in Buena Park, on the other hand, really cared about Hollywood history and was a far superior museum, too bad it fell into careless ownership and closed.

Madame Tussaud's also cares about quality, in fact quality is the reason why they've been in business over 200 years!

Hollywood's film industry and actors always strive for the best, but Hollywood Wax Museum never did.

There is no doubt that once Madame Tussaud's Hollywood opens, The Hollywood Wax Museum will be out of business, as it should.

Quality is and should always be top priority in Hollywood and the owners of the Hollywood Wax Museum have had several decades to be top notch, but they never took the time to make it great.

It is VERY responsible on the part of the City Government to accept zoning for Tussaud's because the township of Hollywood will only be a better place with the best quality attractions.

As far as a British Company stepping into competition with the "American owned" Hollywood Wax Museum.....a large chunk of the foundation of Hollywood magic was created by the British.

The Hollywood wax museum used a British citizen to promote their museum. For years they had Charlie Chaplin's figure in a case on the Chinese Theatre patio to advertise the wax museum.

Charles Chaplin built his studio when Hollywood was only 7 years old and he shaped the movie industry and founded United Artists.

Britain Chaplin helped shape Hollywood and the British Company "The Tussaud's Group" will help continue the great legacy of Hollywood.

Sorry Hollywood Wax Museum, it's time to close your doors, and you will.

Madame Tussaud's will represent Hollywood in a top notch way, sorry but you should have cared about the Movies and the quality more than the Money years ago.

Schrum

DO they have a bill kaulitz ??

Do they Have the Tokio Hotel Band Members?

They DO have a figure of Johnny Grant, Their figures are amazing, and I was impressed to learn that Madame Tussauds wishes only the best for the Hollywood community, and therefore has no desire to see any other attraction close. Classy, huh? I think MTH can only help the neighborhood, and I'm looking forward to it.
