Twitter reports: We're in Hollywood!

June 7, 2008 | 12:21 pm

The Los Angeles Fire Department has won a lot of praise for its innovative Twitter e-mail system that alerts anyone who signs up about the latest major calls the agency is dealing with. The system is a useful tool for those who need (or want) to know what the LAFD is up to. And sometimes, like Friday night, subscribers get messages that remind you we all live in Hollywood:

8:16 p.m. *Physical Rescue* 7601 N. Figueroa St.; TG 565-D5; FS 42, Reports of a plane down west of Figueroa in the Eagle Rock area.  No further info at this time.; Ch:7,12

8:21 p.m.: *UPDATE: 7601 N. Figueroa St.* Reports of plane down is a MOVIE shoot.  Accidental false.

Shelby,

Thanks for the kindhearted mention of the Los Angeles Fire Department on Twitter, which is but one of several ways that Angelenos can learn about Fire Department stories soon to appear in their newspaper and at LATimes.Com

Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,
