11 going on 70 — kids learn about the senior life

Seeing_the_future_2 Hannah Beloff is just 11 years old, but after Hollywood makeup artists Larry Bones and Autumn Hand were through with her, she was ready for AARP. She and the rest of her fifth-grade class at Gault Elementary School in Van Nuys spent several hours as 70-year-olds.

Aided by ear plugs to dull hearing, thick glasses to blur sight, even thicker gloves to make the easiest tasks almost impossible and popcorn in their shoes to simulate foot ailments, the kids say they emerged from the exercise with a heightened understanding of the challenges faced by the elderly.
