Surfing into a new week

A shot of dolphins surfing near the Santa Monica Pier to help ease the transition to Monday. When fellow journalist TJ Sullivan posted this photo -- and several others -- on his web site, he heard from researchers who recognized a dolphin they had named Simba. The nicks in Simba's dorsal fin made the ID possible, and through the photo, the researchers learned the dolphin they had studied was alive and well.
