Never call Inglewood's top cop on a Sunday

May 12, 2008 |  2:14 pm

Crime never stops. But apparently Inglewood's chief of police keeps a Monday through Friday schedule. When contacted at home on Sunday about the fatal shooting involving one of her department's officers, Jacqueline Seabrooks declined to discuss the incident with a Times reporter:

"This is not the time to call," she said, adding that it was not a business day.

Sounds like the Good Chief,is not that dedicated to her job, she could have usedthe old dodge, and indicated the shooting is under investigation and i cant disguss it, had she done this, this article would not be in the Times, I mean really can you see Chief Bratton Saying its not a busisness day......she is a bonehead and should be replaced....with a people person....

So, what did she say on Monday?

I agree with kazaar. What could she have done or said on Sunday that could not wait until Monday?

Not the most tactful response, but otherwise good for her to put a reporter in his/her place. How dare someone call the chief at home to solicit information when it could have or was already obtained from the on-duty personnel or supervisors at the police station. What did they think they would get, an inside scoop of juicy trash-talk, contrary to the initial press release? The call and questions could have definately waited until the next (business) day.

I guess ktartist needs a lesson in common sense, moral responsibility and ethics: An innocent citizen was killed by an Inglewood police officer. Jacqeline is in charge of the officer(s) involved in the shootings. It is her job to answer questions regarding major police-oriented happenings. With the corrupt history of the Inglewood PD of late, her behavior shows a dereliction of duty. Can you imagine if it was your friend/spouse/relative killed by a cop and the person in charge was too busy having breakfast to be bothered? She needs to be reprimanded and/or suspended as she has shown she's obviously NOT in charge of the Inglewood Police Dept.

Who are these people supporting the chief? They seem to be more upset that the chief of police - THE CHIEF OF POLICE! - was interrupted at home with a phone call than the fact that an innocent teenager was killed by a cop. Poor woman! She had to pick up a phone, while that kid picked up 15 bullets in his face and chest. How about some sympathy for them, Murdock?!?!? Sounds as if they are friends of hers or the Inglewood police dept. And it's the job of reporters to do more than simply repeat the press releases of public agencies. They are doing their job, the chief isn't.

City of Inglewood NEVER SLEEPS< therefore i look at this one as a Big Mistake. I sure there had to be a reason for the answer. If not there will be soon

Chief of Police is always available for the People including the News

Times reporter. I will give you a call at home when you're off from work and ask you questions about your articles. See if you're kind enough to answer questions and interviews. You guys think that the world should be on call just for you? Life does not work that way. We all have to wait for things, so why not wait until Monday when the Chief is at the station and can provide you with more information for your article. Why put articles on why the Chief did not answer your call. Call the station and ask for a department spokes person.
