Oenophiles gather, Bob Dale dies and Hollywood Forever Cemetery on life support -- it's last links *

Forever_isnt_as_long_as_you_thinl Forever after at Hollywood Forever? Don't count on it. The glam cemetery, final resting place of such old-school celebs like Peter Lorre, is in big trouble and may not have the cash to carry out up to 100,000 pre-paid funerals, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. (Big thanks to LAist for the link.)

Funny I should come across this today. I happened to be in the neighborhood, so I popped into Hollywood Forever today (what can I say? I'm an Old Hollywood fangirl. I'm sure there are weirder ways to spend time). I hadn't been there since it changed names, owners and managements.
I was surprised by how much worse it's gotten. Brown, weed-choked grass, plaques literally dangling off of outdoor crypts, tools of funereal nature scattered in plain view. I could go on, but I don't think I have to. Besides, I'm almost afraid that the snarling guard at the gate would hunt me down. (They don't exactly welcome visitors, by the way.)
Here's hoping Forever decides to cease, and someone better and more competent takes its place.
