Do this now: Dance the night away in Catalina

2:26 PM | May 17, 2008

Readers, we'd like to alert you to some excellent events moving from this afternoon into evening, ranging from Catalina Island to the San Gabriel Valley. Without further ado, here's the scoop:

The Art Deco Society of L.A. is putting on a 1920s-inspired formal dance at the Avalon Casino Ballroom tonight from 6-10. Dean Mora's Modern Rhythmists will roar, and flappers will flap. The Lindy, Jitterbug, Charleston and Tango. So grab your dance shoes and skiddoo.

It's Bike Week, if you didn't know, and cyclists of all experience levels are joining up for workshops, entertainment and eco-conscious info-gathering at the Urban Bicycle Commuter Expo in Pasadena. That's until 5 p.m. today.

Charles Phoenix presents...The Moonlight Rollerway Jubilee! tonight at 8 in Glendale. This event will feature the fantastic moves of champion synchronized skaters Team In Sinc, along with one of Phoenix's signature groovy retro slide-shows. Tickets include snack bar and skate rentals, for your own roller boogie-ing after the show.
