A classic car parked in the past

This 1970s (or is it 1980s) muscle car seemed to be hiding in its lair when Jen Montgomery snapped this shot in Montrose while waiting for a gate to open.

I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything, but I think this is a Ford or Mercury mid-sized family car, not a Muscle car. When I lived in Woodland Hills back in the 80's, I had a 1967 Camaro SS350....now THAT was a muscle car.

No, that is not a muscle car. It is just a large 1970's American automobile.

I do believe the car is a Cordoba.

1977 Ford LTD ll. Based on the older Torino. It has the 2 parrallegram opera windows. It's not a muscle car, just a lead sled.

That is not a musclecar, it is a Ford LTD II, a midsize family car that also had a 2 door version with a fancy landau vinyl half-roof. Check them out on a show like Charlie's Angels or Barnaby Jones!

That is a 1977-1979 Ford Ranchero. It was based on the platform of the LTD II,Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar built during that era. It was also the last two years of that model. Makes it quite rare. Some could consider it a muscle car, but the detuned nature of cars from the mid and late 70's were a lot slower and plodding.

I had this model in the same color with a brown landau top. I think its a 1977 or 78 Ford LTD 2. I loved that car. Big V8, automatic shift on the floor and my company had a telephone put in it. It wasn't a cell hone but it worked nevertheless.

The term "classic" ought to apply to any older vehicle that is of special interest to some fans of auto memorabilia. The vehicle in the photo is apparently a 1977 Ford Motor product, certainly not something you will see every day, a sturdy V-8 with a prodigious appetite for fuel. Moving into a new energy and vehicular era, as we are, such behemoths will become increasing rarities.

It's either a 76ish Chevy El Camino (pick-up) or Chevelle. Both cars had the same front end styling. A few of them came with a 454 V8. Both were great cars. I wish I still had my 76 El Camino AKA the "Cowboy Cadillac".

This car looks like something my grandmother drove to the supermarket on Saturday afternoon, except yellow is a little too "racy" for her. This is no muscle car!

I'm pretty sure this is a 75 or 76 Ford. Not a muscle car-it had a 302 and automatic. My inlaws had one just like it and it was like looking down an aircraft carriers deck when driving it.

That car is a symbol of what put Detroit where it is today. The only place that collects these are junk yards!

I used to have a 1976 LTD. In 1978, Ford came out with the LTD II. A smaller version. Still a large car. It looked a lot like that car in the photo. The engine in my LTD was nothing to sneeze at. A 460ci. Still doesn't make it a muscle car. More of a land yacht.
