Santa Monica Ferris wheel -- sold! *updated

April 25, 2008 |  2:45 pm

The_ferris_wheel_sold Ten days, six bidders and 35 bids later, the EBay auction for the Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier is over. Winning bid: $132,400.

The bulk of the action started at 8:45 this morning, with the price jumping from $83,000 to the final sale price in a flurry of bids in the last 10 minutes of the sale. You can see the auction here, and the bidding here.

Fingers crossed that the winning bidder knows the base to the Ferris wheel is sold separately.

*And the wheel is headed for Oklahoma City! It's the first - and only - thing Grant Humphreys, son of a former Oklahoma City mayor, ever purchased on the auction site. He's planning to move the whole shebang to Oklahoma and put it into a new development. He also bought the $135,000 base, and will pay shipping charges on 122,000 pounds. Check out the full update on our fine travel blog, the Daily Deal.
