When in doubt, cue the ferris wheel!

A reader sends a photo of the Santa Monica Pier after a cold, spring rain. Seems wherever you go at dusk, that ferris wheel stands out. I love to see it twirling in the distance, background to some rooftop drama in a film or on TV, with downtown L.A. standing in for Chicago or Detroit or New York. All the while, in the distance, that bit of flash and whirl says SoCal.
