I am not condoning this passenger's alleged behavior, and if guilty he should be punished. I would however point out that I have seen far too many flight attendants (mostly female) treat passengers with an air of arrogance and autocratic behavior that could push many into air-rage (let alone an inebriated person. In short, hang him if he's guilty, but investigate the flight attendant's involvement and dole out the appropriate punishment if warranted.

I'm surprised the duct tape made it through security. I mean, you can really do a number with that stuff.
As proven by the article.

I agree with R. in Ft. Worth. I think there are gonna be a lot more of these type of events given the draconian security and lack of ANY type of customer service/care when flying today.

We have to remember that the attendant's job is first and foremost there for our SAFETY. They are trained to remain calm and get us off a troubled plane alive. Having said that, I would love for them (the attendants) to understand that the passengers are mostly involved with paying their salaries and that part of their "remaining calm" training should also include the "emergency" of super-rude customers, which, lets face it, we TOTALLY are! In the past 3 years of traveling I have never been on a plane that had at least 2 passengers who were just looking for a fight with an un-provoking attendant.
