Did I say that? Roski hedges NFL stadium statements

Billionaire developer Edward Roski Jr. is not shy about taking on big projects or making sweeping statements. That was  the case last week when he announced that he would build an NFL football stadium in the San Gabriel Valley even though he had not signed up a team and a key piece of legislation had been blocked. "The stadium is a certainty and it will be built," he was quoted widely as saying.

This week, however, Roski, seemed a bit more uncertain in his statements. In a meeting with the editorial board of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the developer said he won't build an $800 million stadium in the City of Industry until he has an agreement with a team. If he fails to land a team, Roski said he would go ahead and start building a giant shopping center on the site.

"It will be an interesting journey," Roski said. "We've got a long way to go. I'm sure there will be some bumps in the road."
