Do this today: Hang out in 'Deadwood'

April 27, 2008 | 10:00 am

Good morning, readers.

It's hard -- we should know -- being a fan of "Deadwood." Somehow, the knowledge that HBO's erstwhile Wild West drama is no more still smarts something awful. But today you can relive "Deadwood's" glory days at the actual set of the series, where the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival will be whooping it up all day.  Cowboy music, food, poetry, horses, lots of Wild West kitsch to buy and all that. This is a kid-friendly event, so you won't get the gaggles of sullen prostitutes milling about or loud outbursts of cursing or public drunkenness. But you will be able to hang out on Al Swearingen's balcony.

And there's more and more fun at The Guide.
