A surfer and the sunrise at Huntington Beach

A 6:15 sunrise this morning (5:15 actually, since it's Daylight Saving Time and we've all agreed to pretend it's an hour later than it really is) and there's Dane McCrystal, 14 years old, zipping up his wetsuit before slipping into the waves near the Huntington Beach pier. And for anyone wondering, our photog shot directly into the sun, thus that halo effect, light refracting in the glass of the lens. (Pop quiz later.)

Love your stab at daylight savings time. When growing up surfing, daylight savings time drove me nuts. Just when the sun started rising early enough to surf before school, the clocks would change, and there went your morning surf session, lost to same false tinkering with time.
BTW, I think the halo effect is more due to moisture in the atmosphere, the camera merely captured it.
