So, now we have a question for 'Ask a Mexican'

9:31 AM, March 28, 2008

Gusatvo Was Gustavo Arellano's farewell "Ask a Mexican!" column that we blogged about yesterday an early April Fool's Day joke, as mentioned in LA Observed, or was it the real thing?  Given some of the comments generated by our earlier post,  it would seem that there is still a lot of material for a lifetime of "Ask a Mexican" columns.

But until he answers my question, I can only assume that I probably have egg (or huevos rancheros) on my face.

Gee, what a concept April Fools is. Lets update it, we need Every Day is Fools Day because we can't believe the Times, or any other news outlet (sorry, we made a mistake accusing you of murder), Cedars-Sinai or any other hospital (sorry, we gave your kids an overdose), Politicians (sorry, I didnt mean tough on crimes I commit), reasons for war (sorry, we didnt find weapons of mass destruction). So Sanchez, welcome to the west. America, land of the free to lie (unless you are lying about an extramarital affair). Dont believe anything you see, hear, touch, or say. Here is a question for you, why can I comment on South Central violence but not on Prison Guard (excusable, sorry) incompetence? No, dont tell me, I won't believe you anyway.

Chingao, say it aint so Jose!

Just when we had someone with the cajoles, cerebro (brains), style y humor to put everyone in their proper place (Gabachos, Wabs et all), te vas (you go). Well I want to thank you and commend you for taking on such a daunting task...my feeling is that we haven't heard the last of G.A. Congrats! It's been a great run (for the border).

Peace,

Local loco.
