Gunman at Blair High School? ** UPDATED

2:55 PM | February 29, 2008

** UPDATE at 2:55 pm: Parents are gathering at the school as police continue to sort out the details of the incident - and whether there really was a gun on campus.

There is a "meager description" of what happened, and police are interviewing the student who first reported the possible weapon, said Lt. Tom Pederson of the Pasadena Police Department.

More on the developing story from Times staffers.

** UPDATE at 1:05 pm: A spokeswoman for the Pasadena Unified School District told CNN that a student reported that someone on campus had a gun. Students were evacuated as a precaution, she said. No shots have been fired and police continue to investigate.

12:59 pm: That's what KCAL is reporting, as video shows students filing out of the Pasadena school building with their hands behind their heads.

The presence of a gunman has not been confirmed. Police are on the scene, doing a floor-by-floor search. No reports of shots fired.

Our reporters are on the phone with Pasadena PD and we will update as we have details.

Comments

As an ex-Blair alumni (class of 06) I hope all the teachers are all right. With Boccia around I have feeling things will go smoothly.

As a local resident of the Pasadena area and as a father I feel like these events get closer to home each day. We see these events almost every week and in some cases more than one a week in schools, collages and universities across the country. We need to better protect our educators and children.
