PETA makes a Hollywood pitch

Remember the brouhaha about plans to build homes on the Hollywood sign's neighboring knoll? The ever-creative animal activists at PETA (Please Eat Tofu Always?) have an interim plan for the land.
They've written to the owners and ... well, Bob Pool tells it best.

This is so cool! PETA sure knows how to get a message out there. Fortunately there are a ton of awesome veg restaurants in LA. Vegan Glory and Green Temple are my favorites. I think they should take PETA up on the offer. Go PETA and go veg!

Great idea, I love it! The PETA staff is so creative at getting their positive messages across, and this is one of their best. I would love to see this sign go up, spreading the word to be kind to animals by going veg.

How clever! Even if they don't put the sign up, PETA has still gotten it's message out. I went vegan years ago and I feel much healthier--and much better about myself for not contributing to animal suffering. Everyone should go veg!

PETA comes up with the best stunts--their Super Bowl commercials are genius (better than the ones that make it on the air), and this is in the same vein. Other advocacy groups should take note: this stuff gets people talking about PETA. My next stop is the PETA Web site to look up a vegetarian restaurant.

Cool idea! That old Hollywood sign has been around for so long people don't even notice it anymore. PETA's idea is fresh and informative. We could all do with cutting out the meat from our diets and this is a clever, thought-provoking use of the old sign.
