Real estate cools but development still hot topic

Construction The real estate boom is now a distant memory as home prices fall and all of those "Coming Soon" signs grow faded in front of stalled projects. But many Southern Californians remain worried about what might crop up on the empty lot or tear-down next door.

Voters in Redondo Beach may get to vote on a slow-growth initiative in November, according to the Daily Breeze. Meanwhile, in Orange County, officials approved early plans for 1,200 homes near Lake Irvine over the opposition of nearby residents and environmentalists. OC Register.
