Hot Property: Warren Christopher sells his Beverly Hills home for $2.15 million
Former Secretary of State Warren Christopher has sold his Connecticut farmhouse-style home in the Beverly Hills 90210 ZIP Code for $2.15 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
The one-story, 4,000-square-foot house with three bedrooms and three bathrooms came on the market in March 2008 at $3,259,000. Built in 1935, the home sits on an 18,000-square-foot lot. Stephen Baker of Coldwell Banker Beverly Hills North represented the seller and the buyer.
Christopher, 83, who served under President Clinton as the 63rd Secretary of State, had owned the home since the 1970s -- when he probably got it for the .15 of that $2.15 million.

Almost a half acre, how nice! Of course the zip code is hot all by itself too! And farm style in Beverly Hills is the perfect offset with those lovely trees! Thanks for posting this hot property!

What a big drop in price from the asking to the selling price. Sign of the times, or could it be the fact that this house does not sit in the city of Beverly Hills but is actually in Los Angeles? The houses that ONLY share a zip code with the city of Beverly Hills suffer many disadvantages, the most important one being that if you need to call the police no one is quicker in responding than BHPD. Call LAPD when you and your property are at risk and you know you will end up on the 11 o'clock crime news.
Still, Warren Christopher was lucky to be able to unload this property. Even if he had to drop his price by more than 33%.

Wait! If Christopher's 4000 square foot home in 90210 went for 2.1 million dollars, then doesn't it follow that 2000 square foot homes in Westwood, south of wilshire, should not be listed for $1.5 million? That means that such houses between Wilshire and Pico should be selling for about $1 million -- which is a huge drop, and explains why they aren't selling now. So, real estate agents, why don't you become part of the solution, rather than part of the problem, and help lead this market down to 1998 prices?

Interesting--here in Connecticut we call that style a "California ranch"...
