Tanta, whose penetrating analysis and transparent passion fired up the Calculated Risk blog, died Sunday morning in Columbus, Ohio. Her obituary appears in the New York Times today.
This April, 2007 post is an example of Tanta's anger over the mortgage mess, and her realization that so many, including herself, were present in its creation.

We are going to miss Tanta a lot. She was a clear, honest, smart, knowledgeable and educating voice.
But on top of that, she was a very special person that fought to live till the last day!
May god be with her and bless her soul.

Cancer has once again stolen one of our best.
Godspeed "Tanta". Your contributions are all the more meaningful now that I realize what you were writing through. I'm sure your strength and example will carry your family through this difficult time and inspire others to follow in your footsteps.

What a terrible loss for everyone who enjoyed and learned so much from her posts. She was a prominent voice in the bubble blogosphere; she will be greatly missed.

Peter, thanks for picking a particularly wonderful post with which to characterize her. Anyone who could write this well in anger will surely have a place in Heaven. She educated and entertained and moved so many of us...me included. And she will be terribly missed.
