Tracking Manhattan Beach 90266: Dodger Derek Lowe looks to sell

October 16, 2008 | 10:45 am

K8pgvxncManhattan Beach Confidential reports that there is a mini-glut of super-high-end homes for sale in the pricey "walk streets" of Manhattan Beach:

If you love the area, suddenly there's a lot to choose from. The walkstreet inventory west of Highland at this writing includes 15 SFRs.... A year ago, there was just one single home in this category on the market.... Six months ago, in April, there were 4.... So, is west of Highland desirable? Yes. Is it selling? Not really.

Among the sellers, according to the reliable and reliably entertaining Real Estalker, is Dodger right-hander Derek Lowe (pictured), who is looking to unload his Mediterranean-style 4-bedroom home for $5.7 million.

Once again: I'd like to monitor other Zip Codes. I'm still looking for one in the West Valley. Nominations? Thoughts?

The collapse of the stock market is probably the end of these super expensive homes.

Speaking of the Dodgers, in baseball, one of the worst things that can happen to spoil your celebration is being told that you back into something, as in, backing into the playoffs, backing into the World Series. You want to have it because you have earned it, and not because your opponents fell apart. You get that $5 million house because you have earned it, not because your bank failed to check your income. You won an election because you really were the one and not because your opponent stumbled.

Sherman Oaks. My son is looking to buy in that area next year.

Well you can't get much further West than Woodland Hills / West Hills unless you want to piss off the Calabasonians and Hidden Hillsians by telling them they're vals too.

MLTPB: Well you certainly have not back into the status of wittiest of LaLand commenters.

(LaLand -- why do I think of farmland when that phrase tumbles around in my noggin?)

Uncle Billy, I don't want to be too cocky, but after I have officially been certified winner, you and McCain can be my assistants....

Hmmm, wait, I hope that doesn't sound too presumptious.

Well, what the heck, that rule only applies to my followers.

Hey Peter, what happened to all the "Death of Suburbia" stories?
