Kinda cheating if you ask me, but Kosher Krab submits this photo from a gas station in Avalon, on Catalina.
As you can see, $5.61 for regular.
Personally, I think this belongs in the Death Valley category of remote places.
Your thoughts? Comments?
Send your photos of gas prices to the Pain at the Pump gallery in Your Scene at latimes.com.

...how many cars are on the island? Like 5? Those golf carts probably get great mileage.
Speaking of Catalina... any foreclosures over there?

Not only that, but how far do they drive anyway? Just around town, etc.?
I'm actually surprised it's not more $$ !!

...and there's not even any window washy-stuff here. I have a little car, I don't drive far but still have to take kids to school, go to the store, etc. Sometimes we'll take a big trip to Two Harbors. This is it though, there's no other gas station.

There are very few cars on Catalina, that's not news.

Haven't actually been to Essex, CA lately - just driven by it. The last time I was there (in 1999) it was more than $1 a gallon higher than everyone else. I wonder what it is right now. Its on I-40 on the way to Lake Havasu if anyone cares to check it out.

It's HARD to imagine why anybody would want to live on that God-foresaken ROCK. Having had that misfortune I can tell you that the price of GAsoline is the least of their problems. The Island company owns most of the propertY there so as to affect a monopoly on home prices and apartment rentals. In other words, your boss has to subsidize your rent and, if your a good little boy after years of quasi-indentured servitude, they'll sell you one of their dumpy cottages at a manufactured discount for half-a-million smacks.

Well, I live here, on the 'rock' as you call it. The pix of gas prices is last month's one. It is higher now. However, I elect to live here because it's beautiful, serene, and lovely. Where else could you take your notebook to the edge of the water and write? Leave your personal items far away, and not worry about someone absconding with them? This is heaven. My golf cart uses about $13 of gas every 2 weeks. I love it.
Too bad for you who don't!
