Britney to Manhattan Beach?
A tawdry excuse to run a photo of Britney, or a legitimate real estate item? You decide. Here goes: the normally welcome wagon-y blog Manhattan Beach Confidential, hearing that Ms. Spears-Federline-Spears may be house-hunting in Manhattan Beach, encourages her to look elsewhere:
"If you go and snap up some majestic Strand house, or a garish Hill Section lair, you're going to ruin things for your neighbors – who, we might note, will be between 6 and 12 feet away from you. (We don't do "gated" or "estates.")
"Yes, we're sure you're a willing buyer with cash (albeit with an agenda, too), but we'd really ask that you look farther and wider."
For what it's worth, a commenter on the post reports Britney is also condo-hunting in Marina del Rey.

Well, that's kind of snotty and mean. If she wants to live there, more power to her.

We will add a "proximity to Britney" filter to our search for the perfect swingset storage space. Is 550 yards sufficient or should we go for a full mile?

Sweet, maybe she can help lower the astronomically high property values.

Like Manhattan Beach isn't Nouveau riche also.

If she wants to come down and play VBall by the pier no problem. We'll save her a spot, as long as she works on her passing.

MB takes itself way too seriously if this innocuous non-event is gonna ruffle its feathers. PB I could see, but not MB.

"If you're going to be a celeb in a small town"
Don't be a fool, Manhattan Beach isn't a small hick town with cheap housing prices in the middle of nowhere, instead M.B. is a name on an area of land in the Great Los Angeles metro area with very expensive houses.
You are nothing more than a biggot against movie stars!

I grew up in MB. IF you think this is harsh, wait until she moves in. They'll have her forced out in 1 month.

Manhattan Beach deserves Britney.

I think a couple of double wides on the Strand would help modulate house pricing

I live in MB and there are so many children here I just fear that its only a matter of time before some photographer chasing Britney in his car hits an elementary school kid.
Brentwood and LA are used to mobs of paparazzi, MB is not.

She would be more suited to a trailer park in Needles.

Peter-This is a great bog until you included this no-talent hag. Rather then ruining the lives of her neighbors in Manhattan Beach, shouldn’t this illiterate be raising the two sons she mothered? What Dennis Rodman did to Newport, this want to be will do to Manhattan Beach. Can’t someone make her go away?

Will MB residents even notice the additional divorcee with bleached hair, orange tan and enhanced breasts?
With more money than class, it seems Britney is a perfect fit.

put her barely clad photo on all your posts!

I don't really care where she lives, though I do think Manhattan Beach is being rather haughty; I work right by there and trust me, it's nothing special save for high prices, but so far as I know, she already has a house in Malibu and one in Hollywood, then half the time she stays in a hotel. What does she need with another house in the same metro area? All she really needs is a big storage area for her personal belongings, since she seems to live out most of her life in a Mercedes convertible.

Can we see what it would look like if Angelo and Britney had a child?

Peter, I hope this is not a sign of things to come for this blog. I appreciate the discourse about the housing market, but this has NOTHING to do with that.
Whether or not you agree with her, there are many other people who behave worse and this is not a reason to personally and publicly harass someone. I can assure you, if this person was black, you'd have Al Sharpton running over here in an instant calling this town a bunch of racists.
If this behavior is not acceptable under those circumstances, it should not be acceptable under these either.
Let's get back to the daily matters at hand.

Pete, I'm begging you. Please post another blog entry so we can talk about something else. It doesn't even have to be relevant. It just has to be long enough that she appears below the fold and I don't have to keep looking at her.
I'd even take another photo file of Mozillo.
No, wait. I wouldn't.

who cares?
It isnt like there arent celebs already living in Manhattan Beach, Venice, Santa Monica, the West Valley, or other areas. Celebs are not confined to beverly hills, bel-aire, and brentwood. Manhattan Beach will never notice her.
This isnt news!

This blog hasn't jumped the shark yet, but with this entry it's headed for the ramp.

I love the Toll Brothers adds running across the top and vertical down the right side of this blog.
Wonder if the left side brain ever consults with the right side brain at LA Times? People here are about as likely to buy a Toll Brothers house as they are to shoot Toll House cookies out of their a**es!

Perhaps MB has certain laws on the books or enforcement regulations regarding paparazzi and their obnoxious loitering and stalking.
