The film ‘Water for Elephants’ had its premiere in New York on Sunday night, with all the stars in attendance: Robert Pattinson, Hal Holbrook, Oscar winners Christoph Waltz and Reese Witherspoon. And one more star for the bookish: author Sara Gruen.

Of course, fans mobbed Pattinson, famous for his turn in the film adaptations of a little literary property known as the Twilight Saga. There was also a lot of attention paid, our sassy sister blog Ministry of Gossip says, to Witherspoon, as it’s her first premiere since she got married last month.

Rubbing shoulders with them all was Gruen, in a silvery-gray dress and violet shoes, getting to be about as fancy as authors ever get to be. Other stars spotted on the red carpet included Julia Stiles, Gina Gershon, Michael Strahan, Nicole Murphy, Donna Scott, Mark Povinelli and V.I.P. Rupert Murdoch.
