Joan Didion breaks collarbone in fall
Author Joan Didion has fallen and broken her collarbone, leading to the cancellation of an April appearance in Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Tuesday.
In an online post, the Star-Tribune wrote that Didion "had been scheduled to appear in mid-April at the Ted Mann Hall on the University of Minnesota campus. A UM spokesperson said it was unlikely that her appearance would be rescheduled this year."
Joan Didion, now 76, won the 2005 National Book Award for her memoir "The Year of Magical Thinking." The longtime New Yorker is a California native -- she's written about her hometown, Sacramento, and deftly chronicled San Francisco and L.A. in the turbulent '60s in "The White Album" and "Slouching Towards Bethlehem."
