Dick Cavett and Mel Brooks to appear at Writers Bloc

Talk show host Dick Cavett, whose recent N.Y. Times columns have been collected in the new book ‘Talk Show,’ will come to the L.A. series Writers Bloc. Faced with finding someone to interview one of the 20th century’s best interviewers, Writers Bloc has scored a coup: Mel Brooks.

With Brooks -- the creator of ‘The Producers,’ ‘Young Frankenstein,’ ‘Get Smart’ and ‘Blazing Saddles’ -- on stage, the conversation is guaranteed to take some unexpected, hilarious turns.

Cavett and Brooks will appear at Writers Bloc at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $23 and can be purchased online through Ticketweb.

Carolyn Kellogg is a prize-winning writer who served as Books editor of the Los Angeles Times for three years. She joined the L.A. Times in 2010 as staff writer in Books and left in 2018. In 2019, she was a judge of the National Book Award in Nonfiction. Prior to coming to The Times, Kellogg was editor of LAist.com and the web editor of the public radio show Marketplace. She has an MFA in creative writing from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA in English from the University of Southern California.
