Images from the West Hollywood Book Fair
Aimee Bender, Marisa Silver and Michael Jaime-Becerra were among the authors who braved the near 100-degree heat to appear at the West Hollywood Book Fair on Sunday. By all accounts, attendance was down -- perhaps by as much as 50% -- because of the weather.
The one-day neighborhood book festival included appearances by actress and memoirist Molly Ringwald, poet Mark Doty and crime writer James Ellroy; a Lovecraftian live-action game; and lots and lots of sun. See our photo gallery of the West Hollywood Book Festival here.

Wow, attendance was down? Was it the weather? Or, people's boredom with the festival?
Consider, the fact that the line-up's been the same 50 authors for several years running. If you miss a writer, you can always wait .. they'll be there next year ... and the next ... in ten years. This might have something to do with another little known fact: the "organizers" don't actually read the books of the panel participants. It's about "relationships." Or, $$$.
There's also the fact that the City of WeHo - supposedly so pro-gay rights - accepts major funding from Target, of late busily backing anti-gay legislation.
