Vermont-Slauson: Juan Ola, 26

Ola Juan Ola, a 26-year-old Latino, was stabbed and died Wednesday, Dec. 30, in the 5900 block of South Vermont Avenue in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

Ola was stabbed about 2 a.m. in a restaurant parking lot after allegedly arguing with Aurelio Ramirez, a 55-year-old Latino, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release. 

Police allege Ramirez stabbed Ola with a sharp object several times in the chest, then fled the scene. Ola was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:26 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Ramirez was arrested at 3:50 p.m. that day and booked on suspicion of murder. His bail is set at $1 million, according to police.

Vermont-Slauson: Oran Eugene Douglas III, 37

Douglas,-Oran Oran Eugene Douglas III, a 37-year-old black man, was shot several times by a Los Angeles police officer in the 900 block of West 68th Street in Vermont-Slauson and killed Sunday, August 9.

According to LAPD officials, two officers on patrol recognized Douglas,  who they described as a parolee and known gang member, as they drove on 68th Street.

Officer Gabriel Holguin exited the patrol car to approach Douglas and called his name, authorities said.

Holguin told investigators that he saw Douglas holding his waist as he ran. "Douglas eventually stumbled as he drew a gun from his waistband.  He then turned toward the officer with his gun, and an officer involved shooting occurred," according to an LAPD news release on the shooting.

Douglas was pronounced dead at the scene and a loaded gun was recovered from his body, officials said.

Holguin has been an LAPD officer for five years, according to authorities. LAPD Force Investigation Division is investigating the shooting.

Vermont-Slauson: Hutch Jackson, 30

Jackson,-Hutch Hutch Jackson, a 30-year-old white man, was shot in the head and died July 18. He was shot in the 1200 block of West 71st Street in Vermont-Slauson, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Vermont-Slauson: Michael Allen, 29

Allen,-Michael-Alexander Michael Allen, a 29-year-old black man, was shot several times and was discovered wrapped in bedding in the passenger seat of a car July 17 in the 1000 block of West 60th Street in Vermont-Slauson.

Officers found Allen in the car after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle at 5:20 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Allen died of his wounds. Police have no motive or description of the suspect.

Vermont-Slauson: Arturo Alvarez, 34

Arturo Alvarez, a 34-year-old Latino, was shot and died on July 7. His body was discovered in the 700 block of West 56th Street in Vermont-Slauson, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said Alvarez's was found in the trunk of a car after police pursued and eventually stopped the vehicle. Alvarez had been kidnapped earlier that day and was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m., Harvey said.
