Norwalk: Marcel Ortiz, 21

The location where Marcel Ortiz was shot. Credit: Google Maps Marcel Ortiz, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Dec. 14, in the 14500 block of Piuma Avenue in Norwalk, authorities said.

Ortiz was standing in a garage with two other men when someone approached the group with a rifle and opened fire, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department news release.

Ortiz was shot about 7 p.m. and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:56 p.m. The two other men were wounded in the attack but were listed in stable condition and are expected to survive, authorities said.

Norwalk: Daniel Motts, 48

The location where Daniel Motts was shot. Credit: Google MapsDaniel Motts, a 48-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Nov. 16, in the 11200 block of Ferina Street in Norwalk, authorities said.

Motts was killed shortly before 6 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. 

No additional details were available.

Norwalk: Cesar Lopez, 19

The location where Cesar Lopez was shot. Credit: Google Maps Cesar Lopez, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Oct. 16, in the 13400 block of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

Craig Harvey, chief coroner's investigator, said Lopez was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to a hospital by a friend, where he was pronounced dead at 4:47 a.m., Harvey said.

Norwalk: Toni Zazueta, 29

The location where Toni Zazueta was shot.Toni Zazueta, a 29-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 17, in the 11500 block of Tina Street in Norwalk, authorities said.

L.A. County Sheriff's deputies said they believed Zazueta -- whose body was found with the body of a man whose name was not immediately released -- was the victim of a murder-suicide. The man also had gunshot wounds.

Officers found the bodies after responding to a report of assault with a deadly weapon at 12:50 p.m., said Rick Pedroza, a deputy sheriff. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Norwalk: Leopoldo Huizar, 24

Leopoldo Huizar, a 24-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Sept. 20, after he was shot by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies in the 11600 block of East Imperial Highway in Norwalk, authorities said.

A deputy was patrolling the area around the Towne House Motel when he "encountered a suspicious male" in the back parking lot, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Department.

Huizar was belligerent, authorities said, and resisted the deputy while he tried to check him for weapons. Huizar apparently pulled a gun out of his waistband and the deputy shot him, according to the statement.

Huizar was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:36 p.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the county coroner's office. A loaded handgun was recovered from the scene, authorities said.

Norwalk: Rayshawn Stewart, 22

Rayshawn Stewart, a 22-year-old black man, was shot several times and died on July 17. Stewart was shot at Clarkdale Avenue and Nava Street in Norwalk, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.


Norwalk: Jorge Duarte, 22

Jorge Duarte, a 22-year-old Latino, was shot and died July 11. He was shot at Rosecrans Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue in Norwalk, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Duarte was stopped at a red light when several people pulled up next to him in a car and shot him several times, said Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the coroner's office. His car then rolled through the light and crashed into a pole, Harvey said.

Duarte was shot at about 2:10 a.m. and pronounced dead at 3:01 a.m. at a local hospital.

Norwalk: Antonio Ordaz-Cervantes, 29

Antonio Ordaz-Cervantes, a 29-year-old Latino, was shot in the head several times in the 13000 block of Clarkdale Avenue in Norwalk. He died on Friday, June 5, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
