Long Beach: Youth, 15, shot [UPDATED]

Ezra Davis, a 15-year-old black male, was shot in the upper body on Saturday, January 31, 2009, in the 800 block of Washington Place in Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Police responded to a call that shots had been fired at 12:04 p.m., and discovered him lying on the sidewalk wounded, according to Long Beach Police Department records. Ezra was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

Westmont: Man, 45, shot at vigil

Keith Orange, a 45-year-old black man, died of a gunshot wound to the back of the head on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009,at 103rd Street and Budlong Avenue in Westmont, according to coroner's records.

Orange was attending a vigil for a fellow gang member when someone opened fire on the crowd, killing Orange and Joe Caver, 26, police said.

Jefferson Park: Man, 26, shot in the head

Jerell Green, a 26-year-old black man, died early Thursday, March 12, 2009, more than six hours after he was shot in the head. The shooting occurred  about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 on West Jefferson Boulevard near Arlington Avenue in Jefferson Park, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Green was taken to a hospital in critical condition, said Los Angeles Police Officer Richard French. He died about 12:45  the next morning, authorities said. French said the gunman left the scene in a black Honda Accord that had two other occupants.

In the same incident, a person identified by police as a known gang member was shot in the body and leg. He was taken to the hospital by a private party and was initially listed in stable condition.

Unincorporated Willowbrook: Man, 18, shot several times

Tavon Williams, an 18-year-old black man,died after being shot several times on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in the 2100 block of East 117th Street in unincorporated Willowbrook, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Williams was standing on the street when "someone walked up and shot him," said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Williams was taken to a hospital, where he later died, said Deputy Lillian Peck of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Unincorporated Willowbrook: Man, 49, shot in his car

Derrick Frank Morris, a 49-year-old black man, died after he was shot several times on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in the 2000 block of Lucien Street in unincorporated Willowbrook, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Morris, 49, had parked his car, when a black SUV pulled up next to him and someone inside fired several rounds. Morris was hit in the upper torso and died at a hospital.

Inglewood: Man, 24, shot

Andrew Maree, a 24-year-old black man, died of a gunshot wound on Friday, March 13, 2009, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The shooting occurred in the 2500 block of West 77th Street in Inglewood, authorities said.

Unincorporated Willowbrook: Man, 71, died of blunt head trauma

Roosevelt Murray, a 71-year-old black man, died of blunt head trauma on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in the 12000 block of Avalon Boulevard in unincorporated Willowbrook, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Murray died from injuries he sustained in an assault that day.

Watts: Man, 22, shot in the back

Rodney Smith, a 22-year-old black man, died of a gunshot wound to the back on Monday, March 23, 2009, in the 10200 block of Grape Street in Watts, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Crenshaw: Man, 19, shot several times

Larry Howard, a 19-year-old black man, was shot several times Saturday, March 28, 2009, in the 4800 block of August Street in Crenshaw, according to authorities.

Los Angeles police said Howard was standing in a courtyard when someone approached him and began shooting. They described the assault as unprovoked.

Howard was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said they had no description of the assailant and had not recovered a weapon.

Hyde Park: Man, 22, shot while walking

Ronald Buckner, a 22-year-old black man, was shot on Monday, March 2, 2009, while walking on the 3100 block of West 59th Street in Hyde Park, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Buckner was walking when a group of people drove by in a red Dodge Charger and shot at him several times, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police say the incident is gang-related.

Long Beach: Man, 26, shot

Dererall Philian, a 26-year-old black man, died of a gunshot wound to the head on Saturday, March 7, 2009, in the 2400 block of Cedar Avenue in Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Philian, a resident of Long Beach, was found about 2:20 a.m. Police had responded to reports of shots fired.

South Los Angeles: Man, 37, shot to death

Gregory Thomas, a 37-year-old black man, died of multiple gunshot wounds on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, in the 10000 block of Budlong Avenue in unincorporated South Los Angeles, according to coroner's records.
During a memorial for Thomas, an unknown man opened fire and killed two other men: Keith Orange, 45, and Joe Carl Caver, 26.

Compton: Youth, 17, dies in stabbing

Thomas Williams, a 17-year-old black youth, died of a stab wound to the abdomen on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, in the 100 block of East Bennett Street in Compton, according to the coroner's office.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has issued an arrest warrant for the arrest of Latravia Whaley, 18.

Athens: Man, 21, shot

Chico Shelby, a 21-year-old black man, was shot several times on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in the 1000 block of 108th Street in Athens, according to coroner's records.
Shelby was standing on the porch of a home when an unknown black man in his 20s walked up and shot him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect got into a car, described by police as a blue mid-sized sedan, possibly with four doors, and drove off.
Sheriff's homicide detectives are asking anyone with information to call 323-890-5500.

Unicorporated South Los Angeles: Man, 21, shot after argument

Joshawa Caldwell, a 21-year-old black man, was shot while standing in the 1300 block of 109th Place in unincorporated South L.A., shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, authorities said.

Caldwell was standing on the sidewalk with two other men when a dark car pulled up, according to detectives with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

Three male Latinos in the car got into an argument with Caldwell, and one man shot him once in the upper torso. The men fled east on 109th Place, sheriff's officials said.

Caldwell was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Unincorporated South L.A.: Man, 58, is shot while riding a bike

Alonzo Griffin, a 58-year-old black man, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso in what coroner's officials described as a walk-up shooting on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in the 7700 block of Miramonte Boulevard in an unincorporated area of South Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department records show that Griffin was shot shortly after 10:30 p.m. while riding a bicycle near his home.

Pomona: Man, 40, is shot at close range

Carlos Foreman, a 40-year-old black man, died after suffering close-range gunshot wounds to the torso, right hand and lower left leg on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in the 1100 block of North Hamilton Avenue in Pomona, according to coroner's records.

South Los Angeles: Man, 39, is fatally shot

Jemal Trotter, a 39-year-old black man, was shot and killed in the 10200 block of Vermont Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2008. A black man with him was shot and wounded in the arm, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department records.

The shootings took place in an unincorporated area of South Los Angeles.

Watts: Man, 56, shot in abdomen

Stephen Bowden, a 56-year-old black man, died after being shot in the abdomen Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at 103rd Street and Lou Dillon Avenue in Watts, according to coroner's records.

Florence-Firestone: Man, 34, shot multiple times

Shawntaine Wright, a 34-year-old black man, died after he was shot multiple times in the face, torso, hands and legs on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 in front of 312 East 62nd Street.
