Joshawa Caldwell, a 21-year-old black man, was shot while standing in the 1300 block of 109th Place in unincorporated South L.A., shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, authorities said.
Caldwell was standing on the sidewalk with two other men when a dark car pulled up, according to detectives with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
Three male Latinos in the car got into an argument with Caldwell, and one man shot him once in the upper torso. The men fled east on 109th Place, sheriff's officials said.
Caldwell was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Alonzo Griffin, a 58-year-old black man, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the torso in what coroner's officials described as a walk-up shooting on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in the 7700 block of Miramonte Boulevard in an unincorporated area of South Los Angeles.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department records show that Griffin was shot shortly after 10:30 p.m. while riding a bicycle near his home.

Carlos Foreman, a 40-year-old black man, died after suffering close-range gunshot wounds to the torso, right hand and lower left leg on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in the 1100 block of North Hamilton Avenue in Pomona, according to coroner's records.

Jemal Trotter, a 39-year-old black man, was shot and killed in the 10200 block of Vermont Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2008. A black man with him was shot and wounded in the arm, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department records.
The shootings took place in an unincorporated area of South Los Angeles.
