The updated Homicide Report features an interactive map and searchable database of the more than 2,600 homicides in L.A. County since January 2007, when Times' reporter Jill Leovy first started this blog with the goal of covering each one.

Larry Woods, a 50-year-old black man, died Saturday, Dec. 26, more than four hours after he was hit by a stray bullet while eating Christmas dinner at his family's apartment in the 800 block of West 43rd Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.
Woods was inside his family's apartment when someone outside opened fire at a group of people about 7:50 p.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
One of the bullets came into Woods' apartment and struck him. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead early the next day, Winter said.

this area used to be the 43 hoover hood but have been recently occupied by the 40nap crip and they are at a war with the 52 hoover gang. The word on the street is the east coast crip 1st gang really did this and not the hoover. Again i "HEARD" so this is not an actual fact. Can anyone elaborate??? 1x7vermontsidehard is out

This is so tragic. The victim in his apartment minding his own business and he get's gunned down and for what, street BS. The sad thing is the suspect might not ever be caught and punished for what they did.

if this is a true fact so the east coast crips are at it again wow i lost my son to the east coast crips and they were caught in the act i feel sorry for this man's family on christmas day what in the heck is going on not safe anywhere these days not even at your own dinner table god bless this man's family my prayers go out to you

this guy was just an old man in his own house man..think about that...and he was just eating when death came calling.The sick thing is none of the loser outside were hit but a guy (tax payer) not involved was
