Daniel Alejandre, a 26-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Dec. 17, in the 500 block of West G Street in Wilmington, authorities said.

The incident occurred about 7 p.m., according to Officer Bruce Borihanh. The gunman apparently was in the rear passenger seat of the truck when he shot the driver and a passenger with a small-caliber weapon, Borihanh said.

Humberto Ramirez, a 29-year-old Latino, was also shot and killed in the same incident. Ramirez was driving the truck, with Alejandre in the passenger’s seat.

The truck crashed into a parked vehicle and then a wall, authorities said.

Detectives are investigating “whether he was shot before or after they crashed, or whether they crashed because he was shot,” Borihanh said.

Witnesses saw the gunman flee the scene on foot, authorities said.

Anyone with more information about the case is asked to call the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Division at (310) 726-7882.
