It's rather ironic isn't it, that in Los Angeles County alone, there have been at least 735 murders - that is Americans killed by their fellow Americans. It barely rates as news, yet, the fact that 318 Americans have died in Afghanistan, in a war zone on the other side of the planet is major news. There's something wrong with this story. America's streets are deadlier than those in a war zone - something is not right.

Paul,
What's not right is these gang members killing each other 24/7/365. Our military men and women are respected citizens of society and gang members are not. And besides their skin color is not white.

Seaside, are you saying that because the homicide victims are not white, they get no press coverage?

Feel so sorry for the families of the victims. I hope they can live to see the killers pay for their sins.

Wasn't there a murder in Marina Del Rey Christmas week? I remember seeing news reports about a woman being murdered on Marina City near Admiralty Way. I've been looking for some follow up information but haven't seen any more details.

Seaside said it. Our military are generaly decent kids from a decent upbringing and are more respected for fighting for the freedom of our country, but what are these gang bang'in fools fighting for? Nothing, commiting crimes and hurting family members who love them. I disagree with Seaside that its because they're not white is that they don't get press time, I lived in the Pacific Northwest for a brief time and there was alot of white on white crimes, the big ones there was (and I'm sure it still is) pedophilia and domestic abuse, that gets coverage.
But lets face it, I'm a hispanic dad thats outraged at my own kind, this blog reports alot on black on black and hispanic on hispanic murders, and its usally gang related.
